Swanson D-Mannose - Does It Work?-Review
What is Swanson D-Mannose?
This is a review of Swanson D-Mannose, a supplement designed to target the most common Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) causing bacteria, E.Coli to support urinary tract health. With UTI’s affecting 20% of women with infections in the kidneys, ureter, bladder, and urethra, this supplement nourishes healthy flora and is intended to be used to both treat UTIs and as a preventative measure to prevent future ones from occurring as well.
Ingredients & How It Works
D-Mannose - 700mg
Microcrystalline Cellulose (plant fiber)
This is a good ingredient list. D-Mannose itself is a simple sugar that functions as a prebiotic to stimulate the growth of good bacteria in your digestive system. It nourishes the healthy flora in the urinary tract to keep it balanced. But cranberry, lingonberry, Berberine, and Uva Ursi are four key ingredients that are missing from this product that is widely known to help ensure optimal urinary tract health.
The product label states to take the one capsule two times a day (for a total of 2 capsules) with water. For maximum benefit, two capsules can be taken twice per day (for a total of 4 capsules).
This product should not be taken if pregnant or nursing.
The manufacturer's website sells a 60-count bottle of D-Mannose for $12.99 plus shipping costs. Third party websites sell the same bottle for $15.59 including shipping. We could not find any multi-packs available which is unfortunate as the cost of taking the supplements daily surely adds up quickly.
The manufacturer guarantees that if customers are dissatisfied with the product for any reason, they will refund the customers for the products that were not used within 12 months; whether this applies to both opened and unopened bottles is not clear, unfortunately. All returns valued at $500 or more will be subject to a 20% restocking fee. Shipping fees for the return will be reimbursed.
Our Review Summary Of Swanson D-Mannose
With so many women suffering from UTIs, Swanson D-Mannose offers a good product to both treat UTIs and as a preventative measure with an easy to swallow capsule. Unfortunately, there are key ingredients that are plainly missing from this formula which combined with D-Mannose, provides an even better supplement to fight other bacteria, besides E. Coli, which cause UTIs in the kidneys, bladder or urethra. Moreover, with other products on the market which have excellent customer reviews at a competitive price point where the product can be purchased in multi-packs, the manufacturer of this product would need to make a better justification for its said formula at its higher price point. This type of product that is used preventatively is something that for many women, becomes a supplement that is part of their daily life. Therefore being able to count on a product that is both affordable and also has the backing of the manufacturer with a more generous satisfaction guarantee is undoubtedly important. There are companies now who so strongly believe in their products that they offer guarantees up to a year; Swanson would do well in following their lead.
